Comments from Lou Hebert, Chair EEE Department Industry Liaison
Council:
I have known Ramesh since 1998 as Intel
Corporation’s representative on the CSUS College of Engineering and
Computer Science Industry Advisory Board. Being a large employer of
graduates from CSUS, Intel has a vested interest in the success of
the engineering program at CSUS. I have worked closely with Ramesh
as Chair of the EEE Industry Liaison Council. The ILC is a
sub-group focused on activities that facilitate feedback collection
and program improvement for the CSUS EEE program.
In this role, I supported Ramesh’s efforts in collecting feedback
from graduates on the quality and usefulness of their engineering
education as it applies to their industry career. Ramesh has used
this feedback to help modify ECS curricula and publish this
best-known-method in his co-written paper “Closing the loop:
Industry site visits for Program Outcomes Assessment.” The ILC is
also providing independent analysis on the ECS Outcomes Assessment
plan by reviewing the curricula/programs and providing industry
feedback on the quality of education at CSUS ECS. These exercises
are examples of Ramesh’s foresight and openness in driving
continuous improvement, aligning academia with industry needs, and
supporting ABET accreditation requirements. I have shared Intel
Corporation people management processes (management by measurable
objectives and career development plans) to help his department
manage their workload. Ramesh used these processes to develop a
comprehensive workload plan for his department. This example
demonstrates Ramesh’s capability as an administrator and people
manager.
I believe Ramesh will be an excellent
leader due to his proven track record in teaching and scholarly
achievements, his experience in working with industry and
professional organizations, and his keen ability to listen and
integrate feedback to make continuous improvements. Lastly,
Ramesh’s actions demonstrate he is dedicated and that he really
cares about all facets of his profession. Please feel free to
contact me at 916-356-5750 or by email at
Lou.Hebert@Intel.com if you have any further questions.
Sincerely,
Louis W. Hebert
